Social City's Gala Raffle: Win past decor and Limited Edition buildings

Players who click the "Build" menu can now participate in Social City's new Gala Raffle to win buildings and decorations that are no longer available in gifts or up for sale at the store. This new feature seemed to have quietly rolled out last week and the response among fans is pretty positive.
Social City's Gala Raffle in the Build icon menu
One excited player described the raffle as "kinda fun, but also kinda dangerous." How? Well, the raffle is divided into three categories. The first category offers Limited Edition attractions and discontinued giftables. The second offers Limited Edition residential buildings. Both of these require City Bucks, or Social City's form of premium cash, to make your spin. The first one requires 8 City Bucks, while the second needs 5. For $4.99 USD, you can get 55 City Bucks. So this is going to cost real world money, and what you get is luck of the draw.

But the third category uses virtual coins to work. Even at 50,000 Coins per spin, it's as good as free. Right now, that raffle's offerings include premium-level Japanese style buildings and the discontinued giftable Sakura Paths.

Happy Pets: Own an Apple Tree for Free Daily Coins and XP

Happy Pets Apple Trees in Yard
Happy Pets Apple TreeUnder the "Goods" tab in the Happy Pets store, there's now a "Harvest" category selling an Apple Tree for 3,750 Coins. Purchasing this tree will gain players 300 XP. The tree itself promises to deliver 125 Coins and 25 XP every 24 hours.

Apples Tree can be placed in the rooms and yards, but not in the attic. If you upgrade using coins, then your tree goes "under construction" for that time period. That means you'll miss those daily bonuses. A new leaf icon on the top of your screen will let you know how many trees you're allowed to palce in an area. This amount is determined by the number of pets you're allowed to have.

A great thing about this tree is that it can be upgraded. Upgrading the Apple Tree to Tier 2 requires 7 days and 7,500 Coins. But if you do, then the tree will earn you 250 Coins and 50 XP every 24 hours. There are 4 Tiers to the tree in all. Check out the handy chart below to see the costs and benefits.

Apple Tree Level
    Upgrade Cost     Instant Upgrade Cost
Daily Coins & XP Harvest     Upgrade Time
Tier 2     7,500 Coins     36 Facebook Credits     250 Coins & 50 XP     7 Days
Tier 3     11,250 Coins     44 Facebook Credits     375 Coins & 75 XP     9 Days
Tier 4     15,000 Coins     50 Facebook Credits     500 Coins & 100 XP     11 Days

Happy Pets doubles the fun with new Twin and Coin Idols

Happy Pets Twin Idol and Coin Idol in store
Like the old Doublemint gum commercials, two new Limited Edition idols at the Happy Pets store have players seeing double -- the Twin Idol and Coin Idol (image above). Technically, there are four new idols in the store since both idols come with 3-day and 7-day versions. And yes, this means that not only are the idols for a limited time only, but so are the perks that these idols bring with them.

Coin Idol doubles the amount of coins you earn from cleaning and petting, while Twin Idol promises that you'll "get twins from every successful breeding." (NOTE: This doesn't mean that you'll get twins each time your pets breed. For that, you'd need the Love Potion or the Love Idol which you can get by clicking on the "Breed" button after clicking your pet.)

The 3-day Coin Idol costs 28 Facebook Credits (or $2.80 USD), while the 7-day costs 52 FB Credits ($5.20 USD). Finally, the 3-day Twin Idol goes for 40 FB Credits ($4 USD), and the 7-day version costs 76 FB Credits ($7.60 USD).

FishVille's Gulf Coast Turtle helps Audubon raise awareness and funds in oil spill

FishVille Audubon Society Gulf Coast Turtle
Images of the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico continue to inspire a great deal of anger and heartbreak, but many people also offer hope by helping clean up the mess left by the spill. Zynga's FishVille and the Audubon Society have paired up this week to raise funds and awareness with their new Gulf Coast Turtle.

The Turtle came out last week and can be found under the "Creatures" tab at the in-game store. This Turtle is only available for the next 4 days. Zynga is promising to relinquish 50% of the Turtle's sales to the Audubon Society and players have the option to pay either 25 or 200 Sand Dollars for it. Sand Dollars can be bought from the "+ Add Sand Dollars" tab on the top of the game window. A set of 25 Sand Dollars cost $5 USD, and while there's no set of 200, you can buy a set of 240 Sand Dollars for $40 USD.
Adopt the FishVille Baby Gulf Coast Turtle
A new Baby Gulf Coast Turtle has also shown up in the game, which can be adopted via Facebook Wall posts, to help spread the word.

Hotel City: Unlock new Exclusive NYC themed rooms and backgrounds

Hotel City New York Background at the Bellboy Hotel
Hotel City has spent a good several weeks teasing us with their new backgrounds. Players first saw the Night time background in action with the game's first-ever flags release. Today, you can see the Playfish's Bellboy Hotel has hit the big time with their new, New York background (pictured above). Along with these new backgrounds are exclusive, themed rooms already furnished with the latest furniture and decor.
Hotel City Night View Collection
Hotel City New York Collection
But unless you're willing to shell out Playfish Cash, decorating your hotel with the new themes isn't going to be easy. Hotel City has paired up the two backgrounds into the Night and New York packages. The Night package costs 50 Playfish Cash, while the NY one costs 66 PFC. (NOTE: If you're willing to be patient and collect "luxuries" to earn these packages, the PFC price will go down as your luxuries collection increases.)
Hotel City New York Luxuries
To get the New York package, you need 33 "Luxury Items" -- fifteen Broadway tickets, ten "1st class airline tickets" and eight cups of "Hot green tea". You can only get the Broadway tickets by collecting them from the wall posts of your friends, or by visiting the hotels of neighbors sporting the icon of a little brown shopping bag tied with a yellow ribbon. When you get a Luxury Item, you can post on your wall to share it. These can also be gotten by generous friends who gift you.
Hotel City Luxury Item Wall Post
The Night collection works pretty much the same way, but it requires only 25 Luxury Items -- fifteen Gold Watches and twenty "1st class airline tickets."
Hotel City Night Luxuries
While it's a lot of work, these new backgrounds look good enough to be worth it. I should mention that the niftiest thing about these is that they're not entirely static images. While you scroll across a hotel's street, you get a noticeable shift in perspective. Anyway, we expect more backgrounds to roll out soon. So what is Hotel City's next planned stop? SAN FRANCISCO!

FarmVille Beehives: Everything you need to know

Do you hear that buzzing sound? It might just be in your head OR maybe it's the new beehives that just launched in FarmVille (Let's hope for the latter). The goal is the build out your beehive, grow a swarm of bees and, in turn, the busy bugs will pollinate your crops so you have a better chance of finding bushels that can be sold in the Farmer's Market.

First thing's first, however. Beehives, like Horse Stables, etc, requires enlisting generous neighbors to send you building materials to build your hive. You'll need a total of 50 items to complete your house of bees, which breaks down into 10 of each of the the following:

farmville beehive

    Smokers
    Beeswax
    Wooden Boards
    Nails
    Bricks

I had a few nails, boards and bricks leftover from previous building construction, and was glad to learn that I could use these on the beehive as well. Then it was down to getting my awesome neighbors to send smokers and beeswax (which, of course, they did). ALSO SEE OUR FARMVILLE BEEHIVE MATERIALS QUICK LINKS.

beeswax

If you don't want to rely on friends to get the job done, there's an option to buy all of these materials in the Market (go to the in-game Market and look under Buildings > For Animals). Each items costs 1 Farm Cash, so if you buy everything you'll spend a total of 50 Farm Cash or roughly $10.

farmvilel queen bee, 5 honeybees

Once Beehive construction is complete, you'll need to find a Queen Bee by scouting the flower crops on you or a neighbor's farm. Or, if you want to take the easier route, you can buy one for 10 Farm Cash.

farmville beehives now available

Once the Queen Bee is seated on her honeycomb throne, you can start to add Honeybees, which are available as a Free Gift or available in the FarmVille market for Farm Cash. Like other special events -- the most recent being the Tuscan Wedding -- there is a progress meter, so you will be able to see how your bee collection stacks up against your fellow farmers.

Your hive will start to grow and take on different appearances once you have 10, 25, 50, 100 and 200 Honeybees. Also note, after collection 50, 100 and 150 Honeybees, the beehive multiplies, with means you'll eventually have four working Beehives to add to your virtual farm, and they can each be harvested once a day, and bees mean that your crops will be pollinated, yielding extra bushels to sell in your Farmer's Market for cash (or more importantly, extra gas). So what are you waiting for? Make like a busy bee and start building your own hive post haste.

FarmVille Cheats & Tips: Beehive materials, Honeybee quick links

Hello, Facefolks! It's Mr. Cheats here with the down-low on the things you shouldn't know.

This morning, FarmVille's all abuzz with bees! Swarms of 'em! The folks over at The Facegamer have found gifting links for all the Beehive parts. That's right, farmer, your task of the moment is the build your very own beehive, and like all buildings on your farm, it's gonna take some sweat, tears and help from your farm neighbors to get all of the supplies you need.

There's a catch, you'll only be able to send two items at a time, and those two items will change periodically. Don't worry though, Mr. Cheats is going to make it easy on you by giving you ALL of the FarmVille Beehive Materials Quick Links at once. (As an added bonus, Mr. Cheats has also included a quick link for Honeybees as well).

To send any of the items below, just click on the corresponding image and start passing out hive parts like you're some kind of Queen Bee.

Mr. Cheats has another tip -- if you want friends to send you any of these materials (or a specific item), send them this link.

http://apps.facebook.com/onthefarm/gifts.php?giftRecipient=XXXXXXXXXXXX

Your Facebook ID will replace the X's in the URL. Where can you find your ID? Go to your Facebook page and look at the URL. You'll see 'id=XXXXXXXXX." That's your Facebook ID number. Copy and paste it in the URL above, and then start asking fellow players to send materials for your honey bee hive.

Pet Society Oversized Week: Supersize it with giant cereal bowls, light bulbs

No one can say that Playfish isn't creative when it comes to new themes, as this week we see a creative new theme containing items that will make your pet feel as though they've shrunk! Oversized items are now available in several of the games stores, and come in the form of basic, everyday items that have been blown up to extraordinary sizes.

The theme starts off in the Living Room section of the Furniture Store, where you'll find spools of thread, candles, dice and even a teacup that are entirely oversized. The items seem fairly affordable here, ranging from 350 coins for the Dice Seat to 600 coins for the Teacup Table.

Also in the Furniture Store, but this time under the Kitchen and Bathroom section, you'll find a polka-dotted cereal bowl filled with what appear to be Fruit Loops. This item is called the Cereal Bathtub, and it will allow your pet to take a bath in its cereal, for the cost of 3,000 coins to add it to your home.

Finally, in the Bedroom section of the Furniture Store, you'll find a bed made from a book, and a nightstand made from matchboxes, costing 2,000 and 800 coins, respectively.

Over in the game's Market, you'll also find a few interesting items. Under Toys and Collectibles, you'll find an Oversized Mayor Stamp for 500 coins, while under Party & Gifts you'll see a new "community building" object in the form of a giant roller skate turned into a car. You'll need the help of your friends in order to construct the car, as you'll need 20 parts in order to build it. Each friend that helps will receive some coins as a reward, or if you'd rather simply purchase the car outright, you can do so for 25 Playfish Cash.
In the clothing store, rather than offering themed clothing items for your pets, the items here are accessory items, with an Overgrown Strawberry Hat and a Pet Soda Cap Hat being available for 700 coins each.
Over in the D.I.Y. Shop, under the Windows & Doors section, you'll find a Safetypin Window for 1,200 coins, while under Fixtures & Fittings, you'll see a massive lightbulb called the Giant Ceiling Light, which is available for 600 coins. It glows in the dark, if that helps in your decision as to whether or not to purchase it.
Finally, in the game's Food Store, you can find three oversized pieces of food in the form of a Pink Giant Candy for 100 coins, a Giant Chocolate Block for 250 coins, and a Giant Minicake for 160 coins.
With some of these items being available just for one week, you'll want to make sure to head over to the game's page on Facebook to start shopping for all that you're interested in as soon as possible.

Crowdstar Gamebar grants exclusive freebies from Happy Pets, Zoo World, and more

Crowdstar Gamebar free Premium Items
The last time Happy Pets players got a glimpse of the Crowdstar Cat was in April, where Crowdstar gave it away as a Limited Edition pet during the 5th and final day of its first Fan Appreciation Week. If you missed out on the free star-studded kitty by failing to log-in on Day 5, installing the Crowdstar Gamebar now will give you a second chance.
Happy Pets Crowdstar Cat
The instructions to get your Crowdstar Cat are identical to getting Happy Aquarium's Rare Rainbow Shark, so I recommend you read our guide for that one here. Only, instead of logging into Happy Aquarium when your installation is done, you should log into Happy Pets instead.

For those playing Zoo World, logging in will get you a free Pink Sea Turtle.

As for Happy Island, even after 3-4 reinstalls and uninstalls of the Gamebar, I couldn't get the free castle in the picture. It's possible that the game hasn't been updated to notice players who have downloaded the Gamebar yet, so sit tight and try again later.

New York Times says FarmVille players should try growing "actual plants"

FarmVille naysayers -- they're everywhere. They come in the form of Facebook friends who are tired of being spammed with game-related with quests on their wall, people who think games in general are a waste of time, and they also, apparently, write for The New York Times.

Over the weekend, The Gray Lady (my hometown newspaper) ran an editorial that talks about the surprise move made by Disney over the past two weeks: selling Miramax Films and buying social gaming company Playdom. It's certainly a point worth making, and the perfect way to launch into a larger article on how the movie industry is facing serious competition from all forms of media -- HBO, Showtime, Hulu, video games and, now, Facebook games. Instead, the article skips this conversation and jumps into hating on (for lack of a better term) FarmVille and social games in general.

Following are a few choice quotes from the piece:

"But what is being farmed isn't only the virtual crops. It's also the users social connections, their attention and ultimately their credit cards. The basic gaming is free, but sooner or later many players spend real cash to buy game cash. And you can't really play FarmVille without roping in your Facebook friends."

"It's a touch dismaying that social gaming is a world where players are festooned with gratuitous awards, sold trinkets for hard cash and reap rewards for dragging in their friends. It's lovely to pretend that the game reveals an inner agrarian instinct in all of us, but we would like the invite all 60-some-million FarmVille players to consider growing some actual plants."

I have to question how much time this author spent playing FarmVille or any of the other games mentioned in this piece. Case in point, this quote: "The game involves starting a farm. You get your friends to help you water and fertilize crops and harvest them, earning play money to spend on new items." You only have to play FarmVille once to know that you assist neighbors with fertilizing crops, but there is no way to harvest or water other players' crops.

Second, the article intimates that players are suckered to pulling out their credit cards to play these games. That's a serious overstatement. It's common industry knowledge that 1% to 5% of people who play freemium games on Facebook actually spend money on them. The majority of players don't spend cash, and that's why social gaming companies are standing on their heads trying to convince more people to pay.

The writer also talks about how you have to 'drag' in friends to play these games. There's an argument to be made about not spamming all of your friends with social gaming updates on Facebook, but it's pretty difficult to convince friends to play FarmVille if they don't want to. And, say you convince reluctant friends to join FarmVille, but then they stop playing -- that isn't going to help when you need them to send parts for your new garage. Some of the more devoted players have opted to create a second Facebook account just for gaming, and are making friends with new people who also play FarmVille, et al.

It's disappointing that The New York Times would run such a reactionary piece that misses the bigger point about media and technology -- it's always changing, and consumers are always looking for the next big thing.

Oh yeah, as for growing actual plants, I do that too. I have several that have lived in my apartment window for the past decade, and the hour or so a day I spend playing FarmVille hasn't interfered with that. Not yet, anyway.

Cafe World goes back to the future with 1950s drive-in theme

Here is the list of items that are now available for a limited time:

Flying Fin Car - 12 Cafe Cash

FarmVille's new theme song: Here comes the money!

FarmVille has a new theme song -- "Here comes the money!" The fine folks over at FarmVille Freak posted this satirical video that was made in protest of how much FarmVille charges for premium items in the game.

Even though I agree that Zynga charges more than some other games for the cash items, at least 90% of people who play still play for free. FarmVille, in particular, has done a decent job of not forcing people to pay real-life cash to get the most out of their virtual farming experience.

The video, which pairs game images with the Naughty by Nature tune 'Here Comes the Money!' (also known as former WWE wrestler's Shane McMahon's entrance song), is still a riot. Even if I don't totally agree with the sentiment, it's hard to resist someone sticking it to The Man.

Zuckerberg calls Xbox and Nintendo 'the last generation of games'

Mark Zuckerberg CEO of Facebook
Of course the founder of the world's largest social network is going to be behind social gaming, but what he had to say recently about traditional gaming was surprisingly specific. When asked about the future of social networking on the site's new Facebook Questions feature, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said, "The last generation of games was played on Xbox and Nintendo, but many more people now play social games with their friends online."

We find this statement rather out of place when it was rumored recently that Zuckerberg "hated" the games from Zynga and Playfish, calling them "spam machines" rather than enjoyable games. Has he finally given in?

Not to mention Facebook has a huge presence on Xbox Live through Facebook integration (you can access the network on your Xbox, for crying out loud!). Even Nintendo's DSi can access Facebook connectivity, allowing players to take photos and upload them to the network.

One could argue even that services like Xbox Live and--err, whatever Nintendo is up to over there--are social networks by nature. Does he mean to say that these services will be inadequate in the future?

While we're sure Zuckerberg wasn't directly attacking neither Microsoft nor Nintendo when he made the comment, what might this mean for future iterations of Facebook on Nintendo and Microsoft game devices?

My Island Paradise Cheats not working for you? The Facegamer wrote a really helpful Island Paradise Cheats trouble shooting guide. Check out the The Facegamer here and continue reading for the trouble shooting guide below.

    Troubleshooting

Everyone has a certain amount of "free-floating" gifts that they can accept a day. These free-floating gifts don't have to come from anyone in particular. Island Paradise uses them as padding to honor a gift that would have otherwise been rejected by the system. You get about 5 of them a day. The best practice would be to come HERE and claim 5 freebies BEFORE you accept the daily gifts from your friends.
If you got the error "Sorry, we could not find that gift for you", that means you're done for the day. Even if you didn't get any gifts from The Facegamer, the 5-gift-rule includes anything you got from anywhere else, if you've seen something similar to this floating around your friends' profiles. If you accepted an actual gift from a friend, and accidently (or on purpose) refreshed the page, it would count towards the 5-gift-rule. Just don't freak out, and try again tomorrow if you feel like it.
If you get a blank page, either refresh the page or try again. Island Paradise might be down or slow, which is nothing I can fix.
If you get some plain text in black that looks like code or something, try again later. Island Paradise's gift server might be busy, which again is nothing that I can fix.
Sometimes it just plain doesn't work. All these work for me, so if it's not working for you – and it's not one of these reasons above – I really don't know what it is. Sorry. :(

Video Game Roundup: NBA 2K11, Dead Rising 2, Power A

This edition of the video game roundup has the greatest basketball player of all time, the greatest zombie slayer of our age, and the greatest mini Wii controller in the history of games. Hmm, I may be overly enthusiastic, but it's video games!

NBA 2K11
MSRP $59.99 on Xbox 360
Also available on PS3 and PC

As a Knicks fan, this is painful to admit. Michael Jordan was the greatest basketball player of all time. There, I said it. #23 mastered the game with all the grace and strength the NBA has ever seen, and today's superstars will never compare. That's why a game like NBA 2K11 is a great nostalgia trip, with Jordan featured heavily in the game, and his inclusion alone makes this a basketball classic. The Jordan fanaticism begins straight away as they put you right in the middle of an NBA Finals game against the Lakers. The graphics are vibrant and beautiful, and the animation is second to no other sports game. Jordan looks just like Jordan, but more impressively he moves and acts like MJ, even sticking out his tongue when going up for a dunk.

Of course, the gorgeous visuals transcend just Jordan, with every NBA player featured beautifully. The faces are recognizable, and things like free-throw routines are personal to different players. NBA 2K11 makes it more impressive by showing players wincing in frustration or shouting after a great play. Very impressive.

The gameplay is nice and fluid, and it is easy enough to pick up and play. To really master the game, though, you're going to want to check out the tutorial. Button combos involving the shoulder buttons and the analog sticks allow your players to master moves as diverse as the teardrop layup, the step-back jumper, and a variety of dunks. It's amazing at how many different moves there are, but it will take some time to master them all.

Overall, NBA 2K11 offers a beautiful presentation, surprisingly deep gameplay and memories of the greatest player the NBA has ever had. Like it's cover athlete, NBA 2K11 offers the best basketball game in years.

Games.com Score: 5 (out of 5 championship rings)

Dead Rising 2
MSRP $59.99 on Xbox 360
Also available on PC and PS3

Everywhere you go, it's vampire this, warewolf that. Whatever happened to zombie this, braaaains that? Capcom is here to answer that question with the second game in their Dead Rising series. Vampires are for kids, zombies are here to stay.

Dead Rising 2 doesn't stray far at all from the original's core situation of "kill all of the zombies you can with whatever you can pick up." In a mall as big as the one in this game, that's a lot of ways to take care of the undead! From an umbrella to a golf club and more, part of the fun of Dead Rising 2 is using the different and creative ways to vanquish your zombie foes.

Part two takes things to the next level though with a way to combine different weapons to make super weapons, for yet another aspect to the crazy action. Tie a chainsaw to a pole? Sure, why not? The more creative the kills and the more you do at one time, the higher experience points you snag. The more experience points? The better you get at killing zombies, of course. It's pretty rad.

Another cool addition to the series is the multiplayer. You can play with three other players in a series of game show-like minigames that will test how quickly you can kill zombies compared to your friends. The one with the most points wins. Easy enough, although the two player option was a bit more fun. You can go through the game's story with another player and, while it doesn't add anything new in terms of gameplay, it's a lot of fun just messing around and accomplishing the different tasks in the game.

Zombies may not be the hot thing right now, but killing zombies is always in fashion. Dead Rising 2 allows you to do it with the best of them.

Games.com Score: 4 (out of 5 zombie mall cops)

Power A Pro Pack Mini
MSRP $49.99 on Nintendo Wii

Power A has been making a name for itself with innovative accessories that target a variety of gamers, most recently their really cool looking Lego Play & Build Remote. We recently had a chance to check out their Pro Pack Mini for Nintendo Wii and it brings some cool new features to the standard Wii remote.

First of all, you'll notice two things right away. Firstly, the remote and nunchuk come together in the same package (with both easily separated, just like the standard remote and nunchuk), so you get a bit more bang for your buck. The more obvious change is the size of this thing. It's about 35% smaller than the normal Wii remote, although the buttons are comparatively larger, so it fits comfortably even if you have large hands. And don't worry, it works fine with WiiMotion Plus.

When you finally hold it, you'll notice the texture of the remote has a grip to it that is supposed to reduce the slippage as you swing the remote back and forth. That is extremely helpful, especially if you're the type who forgets to wear the remote strap (which, for the love of your TV, you should never forget!).

Overall, it's a pretty neat package and definitely piques interest in what Power A has in store for us accessory nerds in the near future. Check out the Power A store to pick one up for yourself.

Games.com Recommendation: Buy It!

'HTML5 is the future of social game development,' Moblyng CEO claims

In a recent guest post on Inside Social, Stewart Putney, CEO of HTML5 social game developer Moblyng, said, "HTML5 is the future of social game development," especially on smartphones. Because just about every phone and browser out there supports--or will soon hop on--the web development platform, Putney believes that HTML5 will beat out Flash as the primary way to create social games in both your browser and on your phone. Putney goes on to speculate that Zynga's recent expansion into Germany may have more to do with creating games that are truly cross platform than making them look prettier.

And he raises a good point. HTML5, or the newest way to program websites and web programs, will be available on nearly every device you use to access the internet. Not to mention that if a game is developed with HTML5 on one platform, developers can take that game almost anywhere that supports the language.

"The advantage for developers in using HTML5 is the ability to leverage their code across multiple platforms. All major smartphone platforms support a different type of native code, but the one commonality is HTML5," Putney said. "The iPhone, Android, WebOS, Backberry 6.0, Bada and Nokia's Symbian and Meego all support HTML5 apps. Even Windows Phone 7 will roll out support in the next year."

In other words, HTML5 will allow us to find our favorite social games in more places that are all connected while actually looking and feeling similar. I'm looking at you, FarmVille for iPhone. (Though, Mafia Wars: Atlantic City could be a step forward.) HTML5 becoming the primary social game creation tool will also mean no more annoying Flash updates and scary security issues. If Putney is right in saying that HTML5 will take over in the social gaming space, then social games can only improve from here for all of us.

Madden NFL Superstars Bonus Cards: Find gameplay boosts in every Card Pack

Madden NFL Superstars Bonus Cards
Playfish announced today that you can now find Bonus Cards in purchased player Card Packs from Madden NFL Superstars. In addition to a collection of players in each pack, you'll now find bonuses to Game Tickets, Contract Cards, Practice Points and Game Changers at random.

It's unsure right now how many bonuses can be found within one pack, but we imagine the bonuses to be better within more expensive Card Packs. For example, a Game Ticket Bonus Card will probably offer more Game Tickets if found in an Ultimate Card Pack as opposed to a Bronze. Thankfully, Card Packs can be bought with coins as well as Playfish Cash, so everyone has access to these new bonuses. Well, that is if you have the coins. If not, then you better start putting that team to the gridiron if you want a shot at these gameplay bonuses.

YoVille Fall Forest Home - the perfect way to celebrate the season

With Summer now firmly in the past, and Fall in full swing, it's about time that Zynga added a new Fall-themed home to the YoVille real estate office. They've done just that this week, with the release of the Fall Forest Home, which costs 32 YoCash.

The home has two floors. On the first floor, you can find the Front Yard, Living Room, Kitchen, Bedroom, Bathroom, Garden and Gazebo rooms, while the second floor has a Landing, or bonus space, a Master Bedroom, and a Master Bathroom.

The outdoor portions of the home are accentuated by animated falling leaves, that really add to the ambience of the entire property. Once you guy inside, you're greeted with lots of light and wood tones, with cream colored walls and light wood flooring, along with some pretty brown wooden doors.

With three different outdoor spaces to decorate, this home is perfect for those that have a lot of trees, topiaries and the like, while the interior portions of the home are neutral enough to fit most any theme (aside from perhaps ultra-modern-contemporary).

Remember, one of the great things about YoVille is that you can tour a home before you buy it, so take advantage of that feature if you'd like to see more.

It Girl releases Girly Couture items - embrace your femininity

Hey there It Girls! Ready to celebrate everything there is about being a girl, but through fashion? Then you should definitely check out It Girl's newest Girly Couture premium items. There's a lot of pink and pastel here, so be warned!

The three items are mostly dressy, as extremely girly clothing ought to be, and are the following:

Purple Fantasy Gown - 31 points - Black Tie appropriate - 52 Facebook Credits ($5.20 US)
Wild Pom Pom Heels - 21 points - Classy Casual / Night Life / Black Tie - 55 Facebook Credits ($5.50)
Perfectly Girly Skirt - 20 points - Outdoor / Casual Hip / Classy Casual / Night Life - 47 Facebook Credits ($4.70)

Now, no one said being fantastically girly would be cheap, but luckily, these prices seem to be right in line with the other premium items in the game, so if you're going to spend Facebook Credits, you won't feel like you're getting ripped off. Each of these items are limited in quantity, with there being around 1500-2200 of each remaining in the store at the time of this writing.

If you're a low-level player that wants to make a name for yourself in the game, these are great purchases, as they will practically ensure your domination in the Showdowns you'll come across early on.

Collect the new chess set pieces in Happy Aquarium

CrowdStar has launched a new collectible theme in Happy Aquarium, in the form of Chess Pieces. These chess pieces are available either as free gifts (the Raven, Badger, and Serpent pieces), or are available to purchase from the store, with some being premium items, and some being available for regular coins. In addition, some of these items look to be permanent additions to the game's store, while others are limited edition items, making this a true collection, as there will be a challenge in collecting all seven pieces before they disappear from the store.

The chess pieces include wizards and animals, with all coming in an off-brown, almost pewter color (except, again, a little more brown). Some of the chess pieces cost as little as 45 or 199 coins, while others, like the Wizard Chess Piece, costs either 8 Pearls or 7 Facebook Credits (the equivalent of 70¢ US).

Sure, that doesn't sound like a lot, but what makes the set expensive is the Chess Board itself. While you don't have to purchase the board to complete the set, it will truly give the set that finishing touch it might need. However, it costs either 40 Pearls or 33 Facebook Credits, or $3.30 US.

While this set will cost you premium currency to complete, it is nice to see CrowdStar offering users a collection that can be completed in ways other than having to search your friends' treasure chests ad nauseum for items that seem to never randomly drop.

Cafe World: No Clean Fairy gone for good today

Cafe World players who have not yet completed their No Clean Fairy have only one more day to do it before she's gone permanently. The ability to complete her will be taken away today but we're not sure exactly what time. You can't say you weren't given fair warning though (or should we say, fair-y warning) because not only have we posted about this, but because the Cafe World fan page has warned you several times as well.

If you want to simply purchase the No Clean Fairy outright, it will cost you 2 Cafe Cash per material that you need. This means that if you haven't completed ANY of it, you'll have to pay 80 Cafe Cash. As of right now, if you log in you can still complete your fairy and request parts from friends - but if they don't respond to your pleas for help by the time the feature is moved, then you will be without your fairy. If you don't finish the No Clean Fairy, well, it's time to move on to the Queen Deep Freeze anyway.

Do you think the No Clean Fairy is really gone for good, or do you think she'll be back to make a surprise appearance again in the future?

Happy Birthday FishVille: Celebrate 1 year anniversary with month-long celebration

FishVille Anniversary
Today, Zynga have announced that it is FishVille's one year anniversary! This is a pretty big reason to celebrate, because most social games haven't been around quite that long. Zynga is celebrating this exciting event with an entire month full of surprises and parties. We're not sure exactly what to expect yet, but when Cafe World turned 1 they had all sorts of excitement including new catering missions and a sweepstakes with a New York vacation prize.

So far, we know that we're going to get a new mini-game next week called Aqua Hoops. We're not sure exactly what this is, but it could be a version of underwater basketball. We do know that this won't be all that we see this month, so expect a ton of coverage of the FishVille one year anniversary event. We can't wait to see what Zynga pull out of their fishtank for this one!

Japanese FarmVille shall now be known as FarmVillage

Known around the world for their hit social game FarmVille, Zynga's flagship property has made the journey across the Pacific to Japan. The second Zynga game to be localized for a foreign audience and a first for FarmVille, FarmVillage was developed specifically for mobile devices backed by Mixi, Japan's most popular social network. Players will be able to do all the things we can in the states, but in a hopefully improved version of the mobile FarmVille experience.

"We are excited to bring FarmVillage to Japan to create a better playing experience for all the players who have already become avid fans of FarmVille,”" says Zynga Japan CEO Robert Goldberg.

FarmVillage is the fruit of a recent partnership between Zynga and Japanese mobile phone provider Softbank, but Zynga is already experienced in launching games internationally. Earlier this year, Zynga released Zynga Poker in China and just recently announced that its newest game, CityVille, will release in English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.

According to Zynga, FarmVillage features opportunities for players to expand their farm, enjoy more artwork and improved Flash performance. The beta version of the game will launch early this month and more details can be found at Zynga Japan's website for those who are fluent (lucky bastards).

FrontierVille 'Mutton Bustin' Timed Mission: Everything you need to know

Mutton Bustin'
Still working on preparing for the holidays? Well--think fast--Zynga is about to throw us another fastball in FrontierVille with the new "Mutton Bustin'!" Timed Mission. According to Frontier Jack, mutton bustin' is rodeo for kids... only it's done on sheep. And what do you know, it checks out!

Once accepted, you'll only have three days to prepare for the runts' rodeo, but the requirements are simple enough:

Tend to 40 of your neighbors' sheep
    Collect 5 Rodeo Vests
    Collect 10 Rodeo Gloves

Again, this isn't anything you haven't done before, you just might want to find some more friends to visit to get this done in three days considering every requirement calls for friends. Better yet, gifting just got a whole lot easier thanks to the Zynga Message Center finally being introduced to FrontierVille. Complete the mission in time to win a Hitchin' Post decoration, one Dinner and 1,000 XP. Now, get out there and let those kids live out their dreams of riding war sheep onto the battlefield. At least that's what rodeo should be like.

New FrontierVille Mystery Animal Crates ready to butt heads (literally)

Mystery Animals
If you were at all worried about your options when it came to adorable animals to collect, have no fear. Zynga just added yet another set of Mystery Animals to FrontierVille. Coming in a barrel rather than a crate, actually, you can have one of three varieties of Ram, Chipmunk and Armadillo for 50 Horseshoes. Here are all nine animals you might find inside:

    White, Black or Pink Ram
    Brown, Beige or Blue Chipmunk
    Tan, White or Prismatic Armadillo

Honestly, I don't think any Mystery Animal ever will be able to beat the Prismatic Armadillo. It's one step away from Happy Pets' psychedelic pets. Unfortunately, there are no special versions of these Mystery Animals to be found in Goals, but any one of these critters would make for an awww-inducing addition to the homestead. The question is are you willing to risk $6 on getting an animal you might not want?

Social City North Pole expansion comes with homey winter buildings

North Pole Expansion
It looks like the snow is coming in early for Playdom as the company just expanded the North Pole district in Social City to its max size for everyone at absolutely no cost. Though, we doubt it had much to do with snow and rather more to do with the bunch of new buildings that were added in a recent update.

To start, players can gift one another the new Snowy Log Hut, which will provide 75 citizens every six hours, for free. To accompany the log hut are a few more log buildings (and some that are extra sweet) including:

Gingerbread House 1 (9,000 coins): 100 Population every 4 hours
Gingerbread House 2 (12 City Bucks): 100 Population every 4 hours
Gingerbread House 3 (9,000 coins): 400 Population every 4 hours
Snowy Log Cabin (10,000 coins): 125 Population every 6 hours
Snowy Log Home (15,000 coins): 175 Population every 6 hours
    Snowy A-Frame 1 (20,000 coins): 500 Population every 2 days
    Snowy A-Frame 2 (50,000 coins): 800 Population every 2 days
    Snowy A-Frame 3 (10 City Bucks): 1,200 Population every 2 days
Snowy Underhill Home 1, 2 and 3 (25,000 coins each): 250 Population every 6 hours
Snowy Underhill Home 5 (16 City Bucks): 250 Population every 6 hours

In addition to more log cabins than anyone will probably ever need, Playdom also updated the game with an interesting change. According to the forum post, Facebook users who do not play Social City will now be able to see "Likes" referring to Districts in Social City. Considering this type of publishing was shut down a little while back, we'll see how long this feature lasts. Also included in the update were new holiday-themed attractions like the Snowy Clock Tower, which will give players 42,000 Happiness and 500 coins every four hours for 39 City Bucks. Other animated items include Santa's Toy Emporium, an item that for 29 City Bucks will grant your people 32,000 Happiness and 12,000 coins every five days. A good amount of these items are limited edition, so act quick if you want your city to fit the winter look.
